Santa Fe Mountain CenterAdult Health Services Programs

VIDA

Funded from the New Mexico Department of Health HIV/AIDS Infectious Disease Bureau. VIDA is the Spanish word for life and the acronym in English stands for Vital Information about Drug Addiction or, in Spanish, Información Vital sobre la Droga Addición. This HIV Prevention program collaborates with in-patient treatment centers such as Santa Fe Recovery Center and Ayudantes. We offer participants a safe, confidential small group learning environment. A 4-day experiential learning curriculum focuses on facts, information and skill building; connections are made between substance use, personal risk taking behaviors, and the impact they have on transmission of HIV/AIDS, STD's and viral hepatitis A,B,C. Three years of evaluative data show positive increases in knowledge, attitude and behaviors among our participants.
